Polymorph: Zak Greant's Blog

Where there is smoke…

We are in the air now, climbing through a vast grey cloak of smoke that

has wended east from the great fires burning in and over the mountains.

For the people who have not seen picture of the fires in the news, they

are primal and promethean - great sails of red flame hoisted against a soot-black sky, they race and surge over a churning sea of smoke and fire.

In Calgary, the sun swells and reddens as it travels to the west and

lower into the smoke, like a warning to not travel west.

The smoke has continued with as far as Manitoba where the grey starts to

blend into the growing twilight.

(Yup, you guessed it - I wrote today's entries on the plane - I did not post until I got to Georg's garden in Stuttgart. :)
