SCALE 6x: Wrapup - People
While I met a lot of great people at SCALE (Michael, Moose, Sharon and a host more) I had generally interesting non-private discussions with (or observations about) the following:
Allison Randal - OSCON co-chair and Parrot architect - gave a great presentation on Parrot and an excellent low-stress guide to effective speaking. We also spent some [...]

SCALE 6x LiveBlogging: Linux in Early Education
LA is wearing her typical veil of grey-brown smog. I've been here for enough hours that I can't really smell it anymore – or much of anything else, for that matter. I'm at the LA Airport Weston with the rest of the SCALE 6x attendees.
I'm sitting in Steve Oualline's session on Linux in Early Education. [...]

Planning my SCALE 6x Attendance
In about a week, I'll be heading down to Los Angeles to participate in SCALE 6x, the sixth annual Southern California Linux Expo. I'll be joining another Mozillion - Chris Blizzard, who [...]

Ubuntu Live: Jeff Waugh's Keynote
Jeff offered an interesting keynote that focused on what pieces helped shape the vision of Ubuntu and on what would be needed for free software to suceed.
I was interested to note that Jeff used a brief spin through the early history of printing in the West (and its entanglement with the Bible, Christianity, indulgences and [...]

Over the week ending on Friday, July 20th, I worked most on the Internet as a Public Good Symposium, polishing the wiki, chasing around after the other participants, doing background reading, etc. I also spent some time getting ready for Ubuntu Live, OSCON 2007 and the FLOSS Foundations meeting.

Ubuntu Live 07: Mark Shuttleworth's Keynote
It is relatively early on a Sunday morning. I'm in Portland sitting in Mark Shuttleworth's opening keynote for Ubuntu Live 2007.
At a glance, I'd estimate that there are about 240 people in the audience - great attendance for the first edition of an event.
Mark's keynote is surprising, but not in the way that one might [...]
MoFo Weekly Report 2007-07-13
The week ending July 13th saw me working heavily on the Internet as a Public Good Symposium - mostly wrangling participants, writing IPG content, editing the wiki and so on.
I also did some light work preparing for upcoming events (FLOSS Foundations Meeting, OSCON, Ubuntu Live)
Next Week
More Internet as a Public Good Symposium work [...]
