$gut–
In the mid-ninties, I went from a single, heartsick, nervous and twitchy young geek who ran about 30 minutes a day (and that weighted in at about 70 kilos) to a much happier and well-loved geek who spent a lot more time snuggling on the couch.
I also went from cooking to live to cooking for [...]

EuroOSCON 2006: Funny Closing Keynote Quip
Mark Shuttleworth of Canonical and Ubuntu has just taken the stage at EuroOSCON for the closing keynote. To my surprise, most attendees appear to have stuck it out to the last hour of the conference. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised - EuroOSCON was phenomenally good this year, the content was stellar, the attendees were engaged [...]
Travelocity Overrun by Gremlins
http://travelocity.ca has always been a bit of a warty, grumpy service. If you visit it using platforms other than the Windows + IE, it grumbles, threatening to lose your reservation, displaying ugly gaffs in its styling or, in rare instances, randomly serving up sessions other than your own.
For the most part, the travelocity.ca's flaws [...]

Nepotistic? "Nay", say I, "Nepotastic!" I know that the people I [...]

The Rising Spectre of Software Patents in Europe
The EC has started another round of consultations that appear to be
aimed at renewing the effort to establish software patents in Europe.
Opposition from a ragtag coalition of Open Source companies, professional lobbyists, Free Culture, Free Information and Free Software groups helped sink the software patent directive in 2005, but it seems that the software patent [...]
Cloud making?
The train bumpily rounds a corner on the tracks between Aachen and Cologne. A gap opens in the grey skies overhead and golden sunlight pours down. The low leaden skies turn to grey pearl as they are lit from above and below. Against this softly glowing sky a giant cooling tower pumps stark white [...]
Sofia II
In the morning, Salle, Rumi and I went to meet Yovko and the other OpenFest
Sofia organizers, while the children went to visit their grandparents.
Salle drove us through streets now bustling with cars, trucks, buses and
trams. During the day, each traffic light seems to have a small ecosystem of
beggars and vendors who wander from car to [...]
