Lab with Leo Laporte: Demoing Firefox 3 and an (Emulated) Trip Down Memory Lane

Some ways back in the haze that was 2007, I was a guest on a few episodes of the Lab with Leo Laporte show. When I was visiting, I did two brief segments – one on Hiveminder and another on Free Software/Open Source.
I'll be going back next week to record another few segments. This time, [...]

Dictate tasks into Hiveminder using Jott

In the last week or so, I've been playing around with using Hiveminder with Jott. Long story short, I can now easily dictate tasks into Hiveminder from my cell.
Setup was remarkably easy.

Create a Jott account.
Set up (or use an existing) Hiveminder task-by-email address.
Set up a Jott contact that points to your Hiveminder task-by-email address
Start dictating [...]

MoFo Weekly Report 2007-11-02

Most of this week focused on events and task triage. I was holed up in a small, comfortable hotel in Slovenia with good Net access. This, combined with a chest cold, kept me nicely focused on doing lots of small tasks.
Events

Missed our bi-weekly MoCo/MoFo events triage call - the call was a bit late and, [...]

Hiveminder For Consultants

I was chatting with a friend a few days ago about task management. He has a small consulting shop and uses a simple and effective method for keeping on top of his activities and billable hourse: lists of tasks get written into a small notebook. As they get done, he crosses them out and marks [...]

Shell-like aliases for Hiveminder

If you are nerdy (and, if you are reading this blog, that is probably the case), then you probably like the alias built-in for *nix shells.
If you also use Hiveminder, then you should be pretty happy, as Shawn over at Best Practical has added alias-like support to Hiveminder's IM interface.
The syntax is simple.
Create an alias [...]

Hiveminder Wiki

While the Best Practical team didn't seem to make much of a fuss about having set it up, there is now a wiki for their Hiveminder task management service. If you use Hiveminder, you should visit the wiki and contribute.
I've dropped a few things into the wiki, including suggestions for improvements to tagging and making [...]

MoFo Weekly Report 2007-08-17

During the week ending on August 17, I:

followed up various tasks from the Internet as a Public Good Symposium - getting people set up on an IPG mailing list for further discussions, handling the last bit of reimbursements and procrastinating on cleaning up the summit notes.
bits of planning for upcoming Mozilla-related events (like Mozilla24 and [...]

The Lab with Leo Laporte: Draft Pitches on Hiveminder and Open Source

A few days ago I heard back from Ryan Yewell at the Lab with Leo Laporte about my segment pitches for the show.
It turns out that they are interested in the pitches on Hiveminder and Open Source and want to know the 3 to 4 main points I'll cover in each segment and the resources [...]

Lightning Talks on TV?

A few months ago, Ryan Yewell from the Lab with Leo Laporte dropped me a note to see if I was interested in presenting a segment on the show. Each segment is about six minutes - about the same length as a lightning talk.
While I've been mostly out of town when they've been shooting, I [...]

Quicksilver + Adium + Hiveminder

Jesse and the gang at Best Practical have cooked up a slick IM interface for Hiveminder. Now, with a bit of AppleScript and the help of Adium, it is easy to hook Quicksilver up to Hiveminder.

If this is all a bunch of jabberwocky, then you probably aren't using a Mac. Move along, nothing to [...]
