Conference Report: OpenMind & MindTrek 2007

OpenMind 2007 and MindTrek 2007 were excellent mid-sized (400+ participants) tech events that brought together a great mix of people - academics, working developers, activists, senior IT management, public servants, industry veterans, innovators and even pirates [0].
Some presentations were lackluster, but the informal discussions were awesome. There [...]

php|works: The eZ plan

I will be attending php|architect's php/db|works conference in Toronto from September 13 to 15.
While I am there, my eZ systems plans and priorities are:

Give a good talk
Find leads for our partners (esp. those in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America)

$5,701,201 worth of eZ publish code?

I just ran David Wheeler's SLOCCount tool on a copy of eZ publish 3.7.3.
SLOCCount is:

Machine-readable licensing blocks

One of our recent activities at eZ has been to rework our licensing. While most of the changes have been related to improving the agreements involved (simplifying, internationalizing, improving the legal robustness, etc.) we plan to make some changes to how we attach licensing information to our source code.
The basic plan is to drop in [...]

Refactoring a few roles at eZ systems

There is some interesting organizational refactoring happening at eZ these days.
First, my friend Sandro Groganz (nee Zic), is moving to a new role within eZ as our Chief Knowledge Officer. Now, I know that this sounds like an oxymoron, but trust me, it is a good thing. Think of Sandro's role as being that of [...]
