Sofia II
In the morning, Salle, Rumi and I went to meet Yovko and the other OpenFest
Sofia organizers, while the children went to visit their grandparents.
Salle drove us through streets now bustling with cars, trucks, buses and
trams. During the day, each traffic light seems to have a small ecosystem of
beggars and vendors who wander from car to car peddling their wares.
We travel to a pizza restaurant and chat about the event, sorting out a few
last minute logistics.
I am tired and feel a bit unwell. The conversation mostly breezes past me. I
try one of the local beers (Zagorska) - a mild pils that is fairly good.
Outside the restaurant window an orange tabby tom cleans himself, stopping
now and then to weave around a passerby's legs for a few minutes of petting.
More stray dogs roam outside - alternately approaching and shying away from
people. One appears to be a cross between a husky and a border
collie.
We later eat at Salle and Rumi's favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food
is good and the wine fragrant.
Later in the evening, back at Salle's home, I feel more unwell and have mild
stomach cramps. Perhaps I am just adjusting to the local yoghurt culture.
Salle and Rumi go out to greet the other OpenFest guests, while I stay home
hoping to feel better and wanting to update the content for my presentation
tomorrow.
As the evening moves into the early morning, the cramps pass. The
presentation gets rewritten. Salle and Rumi return, jovial and
pleasantly tipsy (of course, they took a cab to get back to their home.)
