Sharing information
One of the first discussions that some of the eZ team had with Sandro, when he started his post as our CKO, was how we could deal with the challenge of effectively sharing our information as we continue to grow.
There are many possible solutions for this problem. A lot of them involve long proposals, UML diagrams, a team of high-paid consultants and a lot of expensive TLA software.
A simple, and we believe effective, solution is to start sharing as much information as we can publicly using simple tools like blogs, wikis and CMSs. Of course, not every bit of info we generate can or should be shared. We can't share confidential details and we shouldn't bore people with stuff like how Sten tapes Hotel Caesar every day. ;) However, there is still a lot that we can (and should) share.
For my part, I am blogging more often. The stuff that I do at eZ that I hope is useful, interesting, cool, etc., I will post as soon as time and situation permits. When possible, I will put the work under a permissive Creative Commons and/or Free Software license. No point in sharing, only to make others unsure of how they can use the ideas you are publishing.
