php|works 2006: General Followup
php/db|works ended yesterday in the early afternoon after the most merciful (read brief) closing keynote I have attended (Thanks Marco!) Congratulations to Marco, Sean, Arbi and crew for running a nice community-centric event! It was small, but it was also easy to have nice conversations with many of the attendees and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
Unfortunately, I spent more time catching up on overdue tasks and sleep than I did catching up with people at the event. However, at least I got to make a few new friends, catch up with old PHP friends (Andrei, Christian, Derick, Ilia, John, Lukas, Rasmus, Sebastian and Wez to be precise) and kept my voice through my entire talk.
I think that the talk went well – I went a few minutes over time and didn’t have much time left for discussion at the end, but I didn’t skip over any essential content (only the list of resource links at the end) and still fielded questions during the session. I think that, in the future, I need to include a one-page reference sheet that includes the fundaments of contracts, copyright, Free Software and Open Source licenses, patents and trademarks – this will help people follow along and should let me cover some of these details in less detail.
I will make eZ and Mozilla-specific posts later on.

Sorry I missed you, Zak. We’ll have to catch up at EuroOSCON.
