Mozilla Foundation Weekly Status 2007-05-18

Most of this week was taken up with preparing for and attending the eLiberatica conference. In fact, as I write this very brief report, I am in the town of Rasnov in Romania. I'll be here for another day before I return home.

The event went extremely well - people were eager to discuss and share ideas. It was interesting to learn how Romanians are working with Free Software and Open Source in their businesses and schools (and also a bit alarming to hear about some of the software-related legislation that exists in Romania - more on this in my report on the event.)

The only other real activity for this week was that I participated in a call with the Berkman fellows to help define more closely what a public good really is (and to consider if the event should really be called the "Internet as a Public Good Symposium" - I wasn't too sharp that day, but thankfully Frank was also on the call and did a good job of outlining what the Mozilla Foundation hoped to learn from the event.

Next Week

p.s. Don't forget to check out Frank's report and Gerv's report for this week.

p.p.s. If you are curious about eLiberatica, look for Flickr photos with the eLiberatica tag and blog posts that are returned by a Technorati search for eLiberatica.
