Mozilla Foundation Report for 2008 Week 9

Zak Greant’s Mozilla Foundation report for March 2nd to March 8th, 2008.

This Week

  • Attended the Open Source Initiative’s face-to-face board meeting on March 2nd and 3rd as a board observer. Additionally, I worked with some of the board members on March 1st on a variety of OSI issues. The meeting minutes for both formal days of meetings are posted on the OSI website – see March 2, 2008 meeting minutes and March 3, 2008 meeting minutes. Most notably, I will be helping the OSI revamp how they deal with public issues.
  •  Worked on my presentations for the upcoming Go Open conference and the Leadership by Open Innovation in the Telecom, IT and Media Industries conference.
  • Worked with the OSCON and OSCAMP teams on planning a revitalized OSCAMP.
  • Prepared for the PHP Québec Conference
  • Misc. Minor work following up with potential grant applicants; read interesting article on the on the psychology of giving in the New York Times (via David Boswell);  reviewed potential grant opportunities for the Mozilla Foundation (via David Boswell); worked with David Ascher at the Mozilla Messaging office on Friday -  we’ll keep doing this (usually on Mondays) when we are both in town; light work preparing for and coordinating the eLiberatica and Open Web Vancouver conferences;

Next Week

  • Attend the PHP Québec Conference and present the Age of Literate Machines as a keynote.
  • Catch up on conference follow-up tasks. e.g. grant proposals, foundation opportunities, requests for information, etc.
