Filderkrautfest

Returned to Stuttgart in time to help my friend Georg out with his chess club's booth at the regional "Filderkrautfest" - a weekend long celebration of a peculiar type of cabbage grown in the region. The cabbage (called Filderspitzkraut/Pointed Field Cabbage) is roughly conical in shape and rather large - up to about a metre in length.

The festivities consisted of various cabbage centric events, music, rides for the kids and copious amounts of food and drink. All in all a good time, however the day got a bit long after six hours of setting up kitchens, tents and tables, and ten hours of slinging hot sauerkraut and sausages.

I did manage to spill sauerkraut juice onto my feet. Amazingly, my shoes were ok (ok, well… they did not smell to good for a while… :)
