Alfresco Seeking Community Relations Person

A friend of mine who also is also a friend of some of the Alfresco crew asked me to help Alfresco find a community relations person.

I've poked a few friends and sent a note off to a few lists. If you are curious, then check out the job posting on Alfresco's site.

If you are thinking about applying, but haven't done this kind of work for FLOSS company before, I'd advise some caution - this is an interesting, exciting and difficult role. Also, as Alfresco has structured the role so as to report to their lead marketing person, you may often find yourself stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea relatively frequently.

After my first community relations gig, I made sure that all of my following community relations/management/advocacy/etc. gigs were positioned so that I was either an independent consultant or that that I reported to the chief executive or both.

Zak: Thanks for helping out on this. It's my understanding that the position will report to the CEO. I 100% agree with you (both in the difficulty of this kind of a job and in the need for some measure of independence).

    Hey Matt,

    Thanks for the comment.

My confusion comes from the job listing, which - as of the time of this comment - reads, "Reporting To   Chief Marketing Officer"
