Random Thought: MySQL is the Perl of RDBMS
While chatting with a few SVN hackers at OSCON, it occured to me that MySQL is the Perl of RDBMS. Discuss among yourselves.

Romanian Software Libre Event: LOAD
A few days ago, my friend and fellow ROSI-ist, Lucian Savluc, mentioned an upcoming Romanian Software Libre event called LOAD - the Linux Open Alternative Days.
Another ROSI member, Alexandru Lăpuşan, will give a presentation on the ROSI initiative and our upcoming eLiberatica conference.
Additionally, two other ROSI members will be attending the event as speakers: [...]

Calling All Vancouver Technical Writers: Uncle eZ Needs You!
Hrm. I am not so sure that "Uncle eZ" is such a good metaphor. However, the first part of the title stands: eZ needs a talented technical editor to work out of our Vancouver office.
Primary responsibilities include editing technical material (such as articles and books). Secondary responsibilities include providing editing services for all departments in [...]

2007 MySQL Users Conference
I wonder how many people will attend a session at a tech conference where the start of the description reads as follows:
Hey You! Yes, You! Manager, marketeer, sales professional: are you tired of 98lb weaklings kicking silicon in your face?
I am thinking this way because my friends at MySQL AB are putting on another MySQL [...]

Of Warfare Metaphors and Tribes on the Electronic Frontier
In recent post Earning one's way out of the trenches Matt Asay posits:

Mark Shuttleworth of Canonical and Ubuntu has just taken the stage at EuroOSCON for the closing keynote. To my surprise, most attendees appear to have stuck it out to the last hour of the conference. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised - EuroOSCON was phenomenally good this year, the content was stellar, the attendees were engaged [...]

php|works 2006: Mozilla Report
At php/db|works, I didn't end up doing much direct Mozilla Foundation evangelism - I spent too much time catching up on various bits of Mozilla work unrelated to the conference and sleeping off my cold.
I did draft (and test) a set of interview questions for my upcoming string of interviews with various FLOSS community members, [...]
php|works 2006: eZ report
I had hoped to do more conference-specific eZ work at php/db|works - instead, I did manage to catch up on much of my email backlog and on my sleep, leaving me much better prepared for the upcoming visits to EuroOSCON and the Government CIO Summit, as well as for a fortunately (and unfortunately, as I [...]
