Bleh.

Work has been quite busy over the last few weeks, hence the lack of blog entries. I still have roughly jotted notes of the Germany-Bulgaria trip sitting around - I need to either find time to polish them up into something that is postable or decide to just skip them.

OpenFest/Sofia III

The morning comes too early for Salle and Rumi. I feel much better - very
well in fact - and feel quite ready for the event.

We travel to the center of Sofia and into an area of attractive historical
buildings - churches, the parliament building, parks with weathered ruins
set in greened-over holes preserved from the bombing in [...]

Sofia II

In the morning, Salle, Rumi and I went to meet Yovko and the other OpenFest
Sofia organizers, while the children went to visit their grandparents.

Salle drove us through streets now bustling with cars, trucks, buses and
trams. During the day, each traffic light seems to have a small ecosystem of
beggars and vendors who wander from car to [...]

No Pressure

My friend Sandro blogged:

"Now that I had a look at Zak's Weblog, I was surprised by his new and very inspired way of writing. He actually started to write down his impressions in a poetic way - and suddenly his Weblog gains more of a personal note and becomes more valuable to me. So what [...]

VLDB

After a few minor mishaps on the train, I arrived at VLDB (Very Large DataBases) in Berlin. It is being hosted in an old university that is on Unter den Linden strasse. I wandered around looking for the rest of the MySQL attendees and found that Ralf was the only person manning our modest table.

I [...]
